Description

The GriGri takes the popular GriGri and adds a number of extra safety features as well as increasing the level of control the belayer has over the rope. This makes the GriGri perfect for beginners however the steel wear plate will also appeal to seasoned climbers as it dramatically increases the life of the device. 

The main feature introduced on the GriGri is the choice in belay mode. The device can be switched between lead and top-roping modes. This switch changes the amount of friction that is required before the assisted break kicks in. In top-rope mode, very little friction is needed at all meaning the assisted break kicks in very early. Lead mode is similar to the standard GriGri which lets the belayer pay out slack. 

It also features an anti-panic handle which cuts out if the leaver is pulled too far in the "open" position while lowering a climber. To re-engage the handle after this has kicked in you simply let go of the handle and start to pull again. 

Increased decending control has been achieved by refining camming angles and the erginomics of the handle while the steel wear plate extends the life of the device.
